An Overview Of ACPA
In September, 2002, The Arts and College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) opened its doors to high school students in the Central Ohio community. Since
the beginning, ACPA has provided its students with first rate academic instruction, along with many opportunities to engage in artistic expression.
ACPA is a comprehensive public community high school in Columbus.Our mission—our passion—is to actively maintain a safe and inclusive environment of diversity for all our students and staff. ACPA
provides a tuition-free college preparatory education to over 400 9th-12th graders representing more than twenty different districts in Central
The demographics of the school are as diverse as the districts represented. Students from all socio-economic, racial, gender &
sexuality, and religious backgrounds are represented. The arts across the curriculum and focus on active civic engagement to make a positive
contribution to the greater community encourages student investment in their education, serves varied learning styles, and improves creative
problem-solving skills essential to achieving their goals beyond high school.
ACPA has achieved Effective ratings (according to the Ohio Department of Education criteria) every year since we opened in 2002-03 and and Excellent
rating for each of the last three years and all A's and B's under the new state report card system. Our open-minded staff, accepting and diverse student body, commitment to the arts, and rigorous academics
contributes to our continued success.
